This course will serve as an overview of 1) Medical cannabis in Maryland, and 2) Incorporating cannabis therapeutics in holistic health.
This course will provide an overview of the medical marijuana program in Maryland as well as ways to incorporate cannabis therapeutics in holistic health.
In Maryland, medical cannabis will be available to patients from a licensed dispensary by Fall 2017. Any Maryland resident whose physician approves medical cannabis as a treatment option for a qualifying medical condition is eligible to register as a patient. This session will cover:

Fleesie A. Hubbard, Founder, FiveTen Wellness, LLC
Fleesie Hubbard is a public health professional with more than 15 years of experience in clinical research and community engagement. Her diverse portfolio in academia includes management of specialty research including novice drug therapy trials and behavioral health interventions to support a variety of medical disciplines. Fleesie aims to progressively impact discovery-based medicine practices through advocacy for cannabis therapeutics in combination with personalized medicine tools and integrated care methods.
As an early advocate for harm-reduction approaches in drug treatment, Fleesie assisted in the development and implementation of Focus on Youth, an HIV/AIDS education initiative adopted by the CDC as an internationally recognized Evidence-Based HIV Behavioral Intervention. She has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles in medical publications, including Drug and Alcohol Dependence and the Journal of Immunology. Recently, at the University of Maryland, she contributed to several therapeutic trials aimed at defining the impact of novel drugs on the care of patients with head and neck cancer.
Fleesie earned her undergraduate degree from Morgan State University and Master of Science from University of Baltimore. Her passion for continued learning led her to complete additional coursework via Johns Hopkins University, University of Geneva, and Harvard School of Public Health. She is currently pursuing post-graduate credentials at the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine.
Driven by a desire to further public understanding of cannabis therapeutics, in 2016 Fleesie founded FiveTen Wellness, a holistic health organization focused on cannabis education, advancing clinical research and building community partnerships. Her professional memberships include Americans for Safe Access, the Minority Cannabis Business Association, and Women Grow.
Fleesie has visited nearly 40 countries and has coordinated medical humanitarian missions in Fiji and Vietnam. At home and abroad, she is passionate about contributing to culturally-diverse, patient-centered, and sustainable community health programming.
